Grainpulse Limited is hiring a Logistics Operations Manager responsible for managing logistics operations within the set company policies, processes and procedures to support the achievement of our business plans and support the achievement of both internal and external customers’ needs in line with business compliance requirements and related national regulatory frameworks.
Reports to: Head of Supply Chain
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the position are
Liaise with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies and customers
- Select service providers and monitor service against set performance criteria o Manage customer feedback and minimise transactional issues
- Negotiate rates and contracts with logistics providers
- Recommend optimal transport modes, routes or frequency
- Track and keep stakeholders informed and updated on progress o Process and review documentation for accuracy and consistency
- Liaise with relevant authorities to ensure smooth logistics operations
Implement best practice logistics principles, policies and processes across the organisation to improve operational and financial performance
- Drive logistics processes within the business and advise of cost implications and efficiency
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities
- Maintain metrics, reports, and process-related documentation for internal review
Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of integrity and service within budgetary requirements
- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports or customer issues
- Review the impact of logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or carriers and report results to others
- Safeguard the integrity of inventory and manage stock movements appropriately
- Interpret trends, review and analyze data in relation to logistics transactions
- Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the organisation to aid customer service and cost improvements
Manage logistics personnel and logistics systems and direct daily operations
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must possess preferably a degree in Business or Commerce with a bias in Logistics or Supply Chain Management. Possession of a post-graduate qualification in Logistics Operations and any Supply Chain Management related field, and a professional qualification in CIPS & CILT is an added advantage. In addition, he or she holder should have 2 to 4 years of work experience at a similar level of responsibility.
- Furthermore, the ideal candidate must have prior experience working in logistics/supply chain/transportation function within the manufacturing environment with a comprehensive knowledge of logistics processes and procedures. He or she must possess expert knowledge of technical regulations related to logistics, such as import/export and customs regulations, including security requirements, to include certification in dangerous goods handling and aviation security.
- Also, the ideal candidate must have strong IT systems knowledge and skills, including knowledge and understanding of specialist systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), E-government protocols under international trade, as well as have proficiency in MS Excel at an advanced level with the ability to analyze and manipulate technical and complex data and provide meaningful information.
- The ideal candidate must possess professional and technical skills in Issue Identification & Problem Solving, Project management, Stakeholder Engagement, Cost Management and Good Governance.
- Further still, the ideal candidate must possess Commercial and financial acumen with a full understanding of the impact of failure in terms of business cost, production schedules and customer order fulfilment (Customer focus) and must therefore have excellent attention to detail skills.
- Additionally, he or she must be a highly skilled communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally, have strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, possess proven management skills with the ability to optimize team performance and development; possess proven analytical, problem-solving solving and organisational skills; have strong planning skills with the ability to handle multiple projects through to completion and to manage competing priorities.
